The Spirit of Liu Guojun at Changxin


    Changzhou College of Information Technology (常州信息职业技术学院) was founded in 1962 by renowned industrialist Mr. Liu Guojun. The school is rooted in the information industry and has been recognized as a national model vocational college and included in the China High-Level Vocational School Development Program. It is also part of Jiangsu Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan for vocational undergraduate development. The school remains committed to its origins and has implemented ten key initiatives to uphold and promote the spirit of Liu Guojun, contributing to high-quality development and building a strong educational foundation.

    Ten Key Initiatives:

     1.⁠ ⁠Integrating Political and Ideological Education – Deeply studying Liu Guojun’s life, audiovisual materials, and classic writings; incorporating his values into ideological education; encouraging teachers and counselors to share his story effectively.

     2.⁠ ⁠Erecting a Statue of Liu Guojun – In September 2012, the school unveiled a statue designed by renowned sculptor Tong Taigang, standing 2.91 meters tall and engraved with Liu Guojun’s biography, now a landmark on campus.

     3.⁠ ⁠Establishing the Liu Guojun Life Story Museum – The museum comprises six sections: preface, biography, legacy, postscript, video showcases, and document displays, aiming to promote and preserve Liu Guojun’s spirit.

     4.⁠ ⁠Launching the Liu Guojun Innovation Experimental Class – This program nurtures top talents in engineering and technology, emphasizing Liu Guojun’s values of innovation and excellence through selective admission, specialized training, and hands-on practice.

     5.⁠ ⁠Commemorating Liu Guojun’s Birthday – Every April 2, the school hosts events such as exhibitions, discussions, and digital content promotion to honor Liu Guojun’s legacy and inspire students and faculty.

     6.⁠ ⁠Forming the Liu Guojun Spirit Research Team – A dedicated research team composed of Marxist scholars, counselors, and ideological educators collaboratively explores and promotes Liu Guojun’s teachings.

     7.⁠ ⁠Launching Specialized Research Projects – The school regularly funds studies on Liu Guojun’s contributions to industrial and vocational education, fostering academic discussions and innovation.

     8.⁠ ⁠Developing the Jiangsu Province United Education Base – Collaborating with the China Democratic National Construction Association, the school advances unified education initiatives, promoting social and educational integration.

     9.⁠ ⁠Extending Liu Guojun’s Spirit to Communities – Student volunteers engage in summer social projects, visiting Liu Guojun’s former residence and spreading awareness of his impact in urban and rural communities.

    10.⁠ ⁠Enhancing Public Outreach and Collaboration – Strengthening ties with Liu Guojun Cultural Center and research organizations, actively participating in events, and leveraging regional and national media to expand influence.

    Looking Ahead to 2025:
    The Changzhou College of Information Technology is in a critical stage of academic expansion, advancing towards university status and pushing forward the next phase of high-level vocational development. With confidence and determination, the school continues to preserve and promote Liu Guojun’s spirit, striving to establish the Changzhou Information Technology University and contribute to China’s national strength and revitalization.

    The Liu Guojun Virtual Museum is a digital repository containing public and private collections of Mr. Liu Guojun (1887-1978).
